April is Healthy Living Month
[Thumb Region, MI] April 1, 2026 — Thumb Community Health Partnership (TCHP) is recognizing April as Healthy Living Month, encouraging residents across the Thumb region to focus on building healthy habits for both body and mind.
Healthy Living Month highlights the importance of physical health, mental well-being, and disease prevention. Throughout April, TCHP will promote simple, everyday actions that can help people live healthier lives.
“Healthy Living Month is a great time to remind ourselves that small, daily choices can make a big difference,” said Kay Balcer, Executive Director of Thumb Community Health Partnership. “By taking care of our bodies and minds, we can build stronger, healthier communities.”
What the Public Can Do to Stay Healthy
Thumb Community Health Partnership encourages community members to take simple steps this April and beyond:
• Be active — Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week.
• Eat healthy foods — Choose fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and drink plenty of water.
• Take care of your mental health — Get enough sleep, manage stress, and talk to someone if you need support.
• Stay connected — Spend time with family, friends, and your community.
• Quit unhealthy habits — If you use tobacco or smoke, consider taking steps to quit. Free tools and support are available at https://smokefree.gov/
• Be mindful of alcohol use — If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. Cutting back or avoiding alcohol can improve your overall health and well-being. If you or someone you know are struggling with an alcohol addiction, check out Peer 360 Recovery Alliance at https://www.peer360recovery.org/.
Small changes can lead to big improvements in overall health and well-being.
Throughout April, Thumb Community Health Partnership will share tips, resources, and local information through social media and community partners to support healthy living across the region.
TCHP invites residents, schools, employers, and community leaders to join in recognizing Healthy Living Month and making health a priority every day.
